The Family Ministry of Alleluia! Lutheran Church (Dublin, Ohio, USA)
Our adult and elementary Sunday School is held at 9:15 a.m. during the school year. A staffed nursery is available from 9 a.m. to Noon. Middle school (Confirmation) and High School groups (F.E.E.T) meet weekly after worship at our church office. Check the website for more information and our current topics.
These both look pretty cool. Seems like they would give us exactly what were looking for: DVD's, CD's, Worship stuff, and easy to follow materials. The "feel" seems cool and something the kids would dig.
Suzanne here! Didn't actually want to post anonymously but it was the only way I could get in here! I obviously need "blogging instruction"!
I thought GForce was totally cool! Whether we can use it or not is another question. It will require some modification, but my assumption is that all the curricula being reviewed will require some tailoring. It's just a matter of which fits us best with the least amount of changes.
GForce has a specific session outcome along with a memory verse. It should appeal to all types of learners as it includes craft, game, music and drama activities. It looks very "hip"....I think even PD would approve!
On the down side it's not specifically designed for multi-age use, however the website does state that suggestions for adapting the materials for multi-age groups are available. Also it is a 60 minute program which we would have to pare down weekly. Finally it is based on the Holman bible translation which may or may not be an issue..I don't know...Don does that matter?
At this point, without knowing what anyone else is coming up with, I would definitely leave this one in the running.
I liked G-Force too. I downloaded a sample leader's guide. It has the following segments: Ignition - a gathering activity -- the one I looked at had kids making a Noah's ark our of raw spaghetti! My son Andrew would love that! Velocity - skit - the one I looked at had someone dress up as a funny superhero -- again another hit with a 4th grade boy Powercel - bible study - seemed to be competent, but couldn't quite get what the cards were about Re-Entry - closing -- they took an offering and invited the parents in -- we'd have to modify ours because we weren't going to do either of those.
How do people feel about taking a children's offering? Something I hadn't thought of . . .
I liked that every lesson began with a message for the leaders/teachers. Feed the cook first!
Overall though, I think there is a heavy reliance on an Audio/Video person, if you follow their script.
We will try G-Force first. It seems most people agree that it fits best what we described. However, if we find it doesn't work the second choice would be FaithInk materials. FaithInk requires a year-long subscription, though -- which G-Force doesn't. We will try G-Force first and see -- if it doesn't live up to its hype then we can drop it and go with Faith Ink then.

FUEL is not for elementary kids.
We can drop it from consideration for Sunday's Cool as far as I'm concerned.
I am forwarding it on to the YUTES people for consideration though.
