Thank you, God, for the elderly
Tish D. has a heart for the elderly. On Sunday, November 21, she will be coming into Sunday's COOL to tell us about the residents at the Convalarium at Indian Run and show us some pictures of their lives.
Samuel F. Pugh is a 100-year-old pastor, children's author and nursing home resident. He lives in Indianapolis and still volunteers to read in preschools. The picture above is of his hands and one of his many Bibles. He says, "God and I are on very good terms, and we work together to get through everything." He wrote a very touching Thanksgiving prayer about appreciating the simple blessings of food, work, home and health. You can read it here: http://www.appleseeds.org/thankgv5.htm
The Partners in Prayer visited us on November 7 and helped us make Thanksgiving Placemats. We will donate some of the placemats we made to the residents at the Convalarium. We will also send them giant Thanksgiving cards.
Thank you, Tish, for helping us remember our elders!
May God brighten their Thanksgiving Day 2004.

We received the following note from Tish Davis regarding the Thanksgiving placemats, posters and card the Sunday’s COOL kids sent to the residents at the Convalarium at Indian Run:
Hello Don & Sunday’s COOL Staff,
I am writing to once again say thank you for allowing the kids to connect with the elderly. I know at least one of the posters made it on the wall because I saw it in the activities area today. My suspicion is that a young teenage girl they recently hired in "Activities" took extra care to make sure these gifts were used as intended. She was there on Sunday when I delivered these items and warmly received them. She worked again on Wednesday and I'm convinced she distributed these items totally on her own. May God bless the young and clean of heart. It wasn't anyone of authority who passed these gifts along, but a child who passed on the gifts of children — and I think that is really special.
I should also tell you that the woman who came back from the hospital on Tuesday was deeply touched by the Get Well card the Sunday’s COOL kids made. She asked me more than once to please thank the kids. She looked at every signature on the card. So if you could mention her thank you to the kids on Sunday, I would appreciate it.
Peace,
Tish
